San Jose West:
The West side of San Jose is comprised of the following towns: Rohrmoser, Santa Ana (Lindora), Ciudad Colón, Cariari, Belén, and of course Escazú, a great residential area that has given away to commerce and the construction of vertical and horizontal residential megaprojects.
It is one of the most exclusive areas, due to it’s increasing value and the highest growth rate in Costa Rica. This is observed by: the opening of many commercial and business centers, first class hotels, great variety of restaurants and entertainment centers, modern clinics and hospitals, supermarkets, and the most prestigious bilingual schools in the country. This is why it is preferred choice not only foreigners but also the local residents.
It is also characterized by its pleasant weather throughout the year, close proximity to the airports Juan Santamaría International Airport and the Tobias Bolaños Airport, and by having excellent road access, especially to the Pacific coast via the recent construction of the Caldera highway.
The East-side of San José
The east-side of San José has a great diversity of businesses (groceries, bazaars, beauty salons, shops, restaurants, malls, etc.). It makes up approximately 10% of all businesses in the San José area.
Curridabat is the town with the highest income per capita in the country, and the second highest number of trained personnel. Currently, there are many huge commercial developments on the main roads, and resurgence of residential and commercial development projects.
In the near future, over $80 million of private sector investments (mostly malls) have been designated for Curridabat. As a result, over the next five years, the government plans to investment a similar amount for the area’s infrastructure
